But what about tomatoes and fish?After such an incredibly relaxing weekend, we come home to fish in our garden!! Fish? Yes, fish. Strung all through our tomatoes!
This trout line has become a gag gift in our neighborhood. If you read Petunia's Garden, you'll notice that she's posted about these little critters for several days in a row!! The joke started last Christmas when they were away for the evening. How do we welcome them home? We can "decorate" the tree outside their front door (see here)!! The lights were taken off their tree and fish went into hiding. Until now, that is!
Petunia's Gardener thinks the fish need to travel the neighborhood, but I'm not sure others would appreciate them as much as we have. Who knows? They may love them!!
(PS - There has been no scientific data which suggests illumination by fish is beneficial for growing tomatoes!)

That is a great idea!!!! We used to do things in Florida with the college and career kids we worked with. We called it CCV... Creative Christian Vandalism. We would do things like this. One morning we looked out and they had planted tons of Dum Dum suckers and plastic forks all over our lawn. One lady at church bragged that her house had never been egged. When she woke up the next morning, those plastic easter eggs were hanging from anything in her yard that they could possibly hang from. =)

that's great... my kind of fun! at the school where i used to work, we passed around a lif-size cut-out of george w. he showed up in the oddest places...sometimes even on co-workers front yards.
i love that you are taking your 2.8 acres and maximizing it to its full potential. i'll have to check in now and again to see how its coming along.
