Texture

"Now on the first day you shall take for yourselves the foliage of beautiful trees, palm branches and boughs of leafy trees and willows of the brook; and you shall rejoice before the Lord your God for seven days." Lev 23:40
After seeing such great photos here and here, I was inspired to experiment with my own.

The texture of the cut wood is my favorite part, I think. Can you see how wet this middle branch is?

I'm not sure if the bark in the third picture is normal for this type of tree or if it became a woodpecker's best friend.

Great shots and thank you for showing my post. Even getting a bit tighter on the logs would show the circles better. Keep trying, I think its fun.
I appreciate your daily Bible references everyday too.

Sapsuckers are known for their orderly rows of small holes they drill for sap. Not sure if any of the other woodpeckes are so disciplined. In AL we had the yellow-bellied sapsucker and the name always stuck with me! Here, it's probably the red-breasted sapsucker. Mostly red head & breast with black & white wings & tail. Nice wood & moss collection.
